Morecambe, as a resort, is going from strength to strength. In recent years the resort has gone through a major Regeneration Programme.

As a holiday centre Morecambe appeals to all ages. Families can enjoy activities from lazing on the beach to the more frenetic pace of Megazone providing laser games for the more competitive thrill seeker. Ten-pin bowling is available at Superbowl, and the Apollo multiplex cinema shows all the latest film releases in comfortable and relaxed surroundings.

On the stunning new sea front and beautiful Stone Jetty the award winning Tern Project pays homage to the wonderful wildlife prolific in the Bay area.

The much acclaimed Eric Morecambe Statue stands in pride of place on the Central Promenade. His love of bird watching is shown by the binoculars around his neck and it is very appropriate that he stands in the heart of one of the largest feeding grounds for migratory and sea birds.

As a base for your holiday, Morecambe excels as it is central to reaching many destinations. Often referred to as the Gateway to the Lakes, Morecambe has easy access to more than just the Lake District. Lancaster, Blackpool, Fylde Coast, Trough of Bowland, Yorkshire Dales, Isle of Man and Northern Ireland are all accessible.

Historic Lancaster is renowned for its impressive architecture, not least Lancaster Castle, owned by Her Majesty the Queen, and open to the public. Ashton Memorial, situated in Williamson Park, is a folly built by James Williamson, which offers spectacular views over the City of Lancaster and beyond. Lancaster is also a University City, a lively and bustling atmosphere prevails throughout.

Heading further afield southwards there is the Fylde Coast to explore. Blackpool, with its famous Tower, Golden Mile and Pleasure Beach is about 40 minutes away by car; as are picturesque Poulton-le-Fylde, St Annes-on-Sea and the port town of Fleetwood with its discount shopping out-let village of Freeport. Slightly further Southport, another traditional seaside resort beckons with Liverpool and Manchester about 75 minutes from Morecambe.
