Access Statement

The Auckland Hotel is situated on the Central Promenade opposite the Lifeboat Station in Morecambe.

To the front of the property there is a ramp leading from the pavement, alternatively there are five steps leading to our paved patio area and double doors of the main building. The main entrance opens into our foyer, sun lounges, reception and main lounges. There is a charging point for electric wheelchairs and scooter in our foyer area.

All our main public rooms are on the ground floor including sun lounges, T.V lounge, main lounge, public toilets, bar lounge and dining room. There is a change of level on our ground floor, which is accommodated for by a ramp. There is also ramped access at the rear of the hotel to our car parks.

We have bedrooms on the ground floor, however, they are not adapted for wheelchair use. We do have two “wheelchair friendly” twin rooms, one on the firs and one on the second floor. These have widened doorways and wet rooms. We can supply toilet frames and raised toilet seats on request. We can also arrange for the hire of electric scooter with advance notice. Please note that the two twin adapted rooms are accessed by the lift. In the event of a fire the lift cannot be used. We can also supply no slip bath mats.

The hotel has three wheelchairs that can be used by guests, which fit inside the lift. We do have a disabled shower and toilet located on the first floor, accessed by the lift.

The lift is a four person lift. The doorway to the lift is 690mm wide. Inside the lift the control panel is situated at wheelchair height and button have raised numbers on them. The lift also announces which floor it reaches. Please note that there is a pull open outer door to the lift and therefore wheelchair dependant guests may need assistance.

We strongly recommend that any guests with disabilities make their needs known at reception, should they require assistance in the event of a fire.

With the exception of our ground floor bedrooms the rest of the bedrooms are situated on our first or second floors. Most bedrooms are on the level from the lift, however, some rooms are in the wings of the hotel and have approximately six steps to them from the lift level. If level access is required please make this known at the time of booking. Assistance with luggage is available.

Our dining room offers waiter service and special diets can be catered for.
